What we have learned running it on real images
- Hair and fur are the honest test. High precision holds most of a hairline; Fast will flatten it into a solid outline, so do not switch models to save a second on a portrait.
- Contact shadows read as background. An object sitting flat on a surface usually loses its shadow at the base - lift it a few centimetres when you shoot and the cut is cleaner.
- Glass, acrylic and anything reflective is the genuine failure case, for this and for every other automatic tool. A matte, contrasting backdrop helps more than any setting does.
- The first image of a session is slow because the model downloads to your browser. Every image after it is fast, and so is the next visit - the browser caches it normally.
- Removing to transparent and compositing onto white beats removing straight to white. Marketplaces want #FFFFFF exactly, and you keep the alpha version for everything else.
